London plane trees always catch my attention with their mottled appearance and peeling bark. The outer layer is rigid and gets shed taking pollutants with it as the new inner layer expands. We also have the capacity to grow our inner worlds and expand our view while challenging our mistaken and limiting beliefs. In that process something gets shed. We lose something each time we choose to grow. The London plane doesn’t reach its branches down around itself to cling to the pieces ready to fall off of its trunk. What are you willing to shed and leave behind in order to evolve and grow?
