After an hour and a half therapy session with my partner, the therapist looked at us and said that if one person doesn’t even understand something for themselves, the other person in the relationship can’t understand it. When we don’t understand then our brain automatically labels the issues as a threat. It doesn’t matter if the threat is real or perceived…a threat is a threat until proven otherwise. My rage and the angry teenager inside me felt validated in this moment. Maybe we need more understanding before judging this tulip or why it was planted at all.
