No Fixed Address

I’m grateful to live in a comfortable condominium in an upscale neighbourhood and close to the harbour and lake. My belongings are mostly here. Some are in a storage locker far away. My cat is here. I have friends here. I’ve tried for years to make a home here and feather my nest, but it doesn’t feel like home.

What makes a home feel like a home? We came across these seals just off the coast of Vancouver and they seemed perfectly content even with no fixed address. Does this feeling of contentment signal to our nervous system and to our hearts that we are home? How do you know when you’re home? Does it feel like you don’t want to be anywhere else? My person isn’t in my home. I think that is what is missing.
