I read that sleeping ducks aren’t sleeping at all…at least not in the way that we do. They sleep with one eye open and one side of the brain rests while the other is on alert. Some of us sleep but don’t feel rested. Both eyes may be closed but our nervous system isn’t quiet just because the curtains have been drawn. Maybe instead of trying to sleep with both eyes closed and resting our brain and body we could aim for quality and not quantity and rest one side of our brain at a time? Are we being overly optimistic thinking our entire container and all of its contents can “sleep” at once? I think I have yet to experience this.
